Therapeutic Approach
“Similarly to different sized and shapes of stones that lie in a creek, there are many different types of therapeutic approaches”
As a systemically trained therapist, Demelza’s approach focuses on the client in the context of their environment, and will tailor interventions according to the client’s individual needs. Demelza’s approaches may include, but not limited to Attachment theory; Trauma; Strengths based; Structural/Strategic Family Therapy; Solution Focused; Narrative; Child and Human Development; Grief and Loss; Systems theory and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).
Demelza has a warm, client centred and collaborative approach to her work, which allows client’s a safe and confidential space to talk through their issues and concerns; identify potential goals and areas requiring change; at a pace which suits them. Demelza understands successful therapy has its underpinnings in a solid Client/Counsellor relationship, and as such, places a subtle, but particular emphasis on this specific relationship.
